With an extensive knowledge of the processes and legislation involved in the transport industry, we can save you time, money and resources.
Professional Compliance Auditing
Our audit service aims to identify safety, legal and compliance issues in your transport operations, giving you a full view of areas for improvement and areas of risk. Our audits include a review of all drivers’ records and tachographs, vehicle maintenance checks, compliance with the Operator’s Licence conditions and is followed up with a full report and our recommendations.
All audits are undertaken by an ISO Lead Auditor assuring you of pragmatic auditing.
Smaller in-depth reports focusing on one particular area are also available to assist with any recent failings or performance management plans for current staff.
We provide both DVSA Earned Recognition audits and Traffic Commissioner mandated compliance audits
How Do We Assist?
Audit
Our first step is to attend the correspondence address of the Operator Licence and carry out a full audit on topics including compliance and management controls, management of drivers’ hours, records and training, vehicle maintenance and inspection, procedures in the event of a road traffic collision, arrangements for hiring short term vehicles, health and safety, environmental and operation systems and criminal offences.
Other Centres
We will visit all of your operating centres to conduct further audits. This will help us establish any further improvements needed to either your main correspondence address or your other centres.
In-depth Reports
Once the first two steps have been completed, we will produce an in-depth report of our audit findings.
Recommendations
The final stage is for us to provide detailed recommendations to allow you to implement necessary changes
Why Use Us?
At Hurst Transport Services, we have experience in assisting operators to make significant improvements ahead of a Public Inquiry hearing that has led to more favourable action from the Traffic Commissioner.
We can provide 'before' and 'after' audit reports for the Traffic Commissioner to demonstrate improvements that have been made ahead of the hearing.
Public Inquiry and DVSA visits
If you have received a Public Inquiry hearing letter or have an impending DVSA visit/Assessment, it is important that you act immediately.
At a Public Inquiry there is a considerable possibility of punishment against the operator including revocation of the Operator Licence.
The best chance of avoiding punishment is to address the shortcomings and failings of your compliance ahead of the hearing.

Requirements
The initial stage of the operator license applications service is to establish you exact needs. This will vary depending on whether you are applying for an amendment to an existing application, or applying for the first time.
Application
Once your needs have been established, we will help you complete the online application process.
Recruitment and Publication
Once your online application has been completed, we will help you source a Transport Manager (if required). We will also arrange for your advertisement in the correct publication, as well as collecting the publication on the day of publishing.
Evidence, Documents and Aftercare
The final step is for us to gather any evidence that may be required (finance, landlord permissions, etc), send all requested documents to Traffic Commissioner - and if needed - we are always available for advice throughout the process.
Why Use Us?
We have proven experience at completing initial applications and variations.
The cost of the advertisement is often more than the application so mistakes are costly.
